A Visit To Shanghai Botanical Gardens

After planning for 2 weeks, we finally decided to go to Shanghai Botanical Gardens last Saturday. It is located in the North West part of Shanghai, close to the South Railway Station.
After a freezing week, Saturday turned out to be so warm and lovely, everybody had a "Spring" smile. It was the Flower Festival that day, because of the special wheather, 4 diffferent flowers from different seasons blossomed together. What did we see? Sakura, Pear Blossom, Peony and Tulip.
There's a huge area of Tulips with a mini model of Shanghai Expo China Pavillion. Lots of people enjoy taking pictures there. The Tulips really deserve more time, they were flourishing and with gloring colours. Another place we spent quite a long time is the greenhouse, including psammophytes and Succulent. We all loved it there, it's huge like a forest, and the light is so suitable for picture shooting. Here, every one took the role of the photographer and was so absorbed by nature.
After walking for such a while and feeling a bit tired, we found the map. The result is, we just finished a very small part of the garden, it is a big garden. The whole garden includes Demonstration Garden, Conservatory, Medicinal Garden, Chinese Cymbidium Room, Penjing Garden, Environment Plant, Pinetum Garden, Fern Garden, Azalea Garden, Peony Garden, Rose Garden, Osmanthus, Bamboo Garden, Maple Garden. We were so shocked when seeing the girls even with the high-heels!!! Maybe they are competiting with the flowers.
Living in Shanghai, now an urban jungle, a brief trip to nature was a much needed respite. Lots of families carried out the babies to enjoy the spring. They pitched tents on the grass and flew kites. (In Shanghai, a picnic includes a pitched tent to avoid the sun.)
The most important thing in Nancy's and Betty's mind, of course, is EATING. They are so attracted by the foods there, and that's the only thing to light them up when getting tired from the long walk. So, the last activity to end the beautiful day was... to eat again. It was a pleasant thing to enjoy the food in the warm breeze. After wishing for so long time, the Spring finally comes, sweet!
