Christmas has come to Shanghai's shopping malls in the form of large outside displays. For example, outside of Le Meridien on Nanjing Road at People's Square is a Christmas tree built out of Heineken beer bottles.
Read on for more pics of Shanghai malls Christmas displays. This is the mall at 759 Huaihai Lu (not sure of the name).

Shanghai Expo Sun Valley |
The "Expo Axis" is a 1km long multi-level boulevard connecting the main areas of the Shanghai Expo. It features six huge cone shaped "Sun Valleys" which collect sun light for the lower levels and rain water for re-cycling. It looks amazing when it is lit up at night and is visible from the elevated road that runs by the expo. More pics on the People's Daily. |

UK Pavilion Shanghai Expo |
Construction is underway on the UK pavilion for the Shanghai Expo. The spiky design by Thomas Heatherwick features 60,000 7.5m long acrylic rods that will sway in the wind. Heatherwick's other spiky design, The B in Bang for Manchester, is to be dismantled due to safety concerns and bits dropping off. In other Expo news: a web site for volunteers has been launched. It's all in Chinese. Why would they want foreign volunteers at an international event? |
