Twist Together Lights |
These TwistTogether lights from Glide can be configured in many ways and come in either candy or chocolate colours. The lights are LEDs so they are low power and cool. Solid Wood Light |
This light (called Cub) was designed by Julian Robin. It looks like a solid block of wood until the light is switched on. Then it glows softly and shows shadows of leaves. Lovely. Available from the Hix store for Euro 290. |

Modular Crystal Led Lights |
The Crystal Light is made by Taipei based QisDesign. It's composed of LED crystals held together with magenets which consumers can assemble anyway they like. Consumers can change the light mode with a remote control to create different lighting effects. |

Bamboo Wind Powered Lights |
Flow is a public lighting system by igenworks made from a bamboo wind turbine. The turbine powers LED lights at the ends of the blades which turn in the wind producing an every changing pattern. The turbine itself has a backbone like structure which enables it to be powered by wind from any direction. |

Nissyoku Lamp |
Nissyoku is a lamp by Igendesign inspired by the solar eclipse. The direction and strength of the light is changed by moving the two side panels which move on a concave surface and are held in place by magnets. |

Odaiba Water Illumination Show |
The Odaiba Water Illumination Show is held at the end of each year at Odaiba, a large artificial island in Tokyo Bay, across the Rainbow Bridge from central Tokyo. Images are projects onto a wall of water - 15m tall by 40m wide - to a musical accompaniment. Quite beautiful. YouTube video embedded below. |

Robot Light Drawing |
Light drawing from Nils Völker is a three wheeled robot that has RGB leds mounted on the top. As the robot moves it turns the leds on and off producing coloured lines when photographed on a long exposure. Video from Vimeo embedded below. |

Night Lights Interactive Building Projection |
Night Lights was an interactive building projection from YesYesNo on to the Auckland Ferry Building. Three different types of interaction were available: body interaction, hand interaction above a light table and phone interaction by waving phones. Very cool project - see video below. Siemens Christmas Star |
Siemens have created the largest Christmas star by attaching 9000 LEDs to a wind turbine outside of Munich. It was a complicated project that took over a year and involved computer models, wind tunnel tests and safety issues. The project is a collaboration with Munich multimedia artist Michael Pendry. The lights get turned off tomorrow though so get yourself down the A9. |
